
Result of a long collaboration between CFF, the state of Geneva and the town of Lancy, the PONT-ROUGE project is the operational realisation of a strategic sector for the Geneva region.
This project is indeed at the heart of an area which is subject to significant changes, both today as well as in the future. The area is located This area is located where two strategic sectors align: the futur CEVA train station of Lancy – Pont-Rouge and the PAV (Praille – Acacias – Vernets) project.
Strategic, the procedure started by the CFF Real Estate team is also ambitious with regards toits magnitude, both in terms of property development as for the creation of public areas. It is therefore evident that the CFF has proposed to join forces with the state of Geneva and the town of Lancy.
Besides the importance of ensuring overall consistency, the partnership has also allowed each member to manifest their demands and expectations for a common project, a unique contemporary area at the centre of Geneva.
In order to improve the quality of the results obtained, the procedure in place has been split into three stages:
The surfaces and zoning programme were imposed by the PLQ instigated by the Council of State in 2010. The procedure involved both the size and volume of future constructions, as well as the development of public spaces of the larger perimeter, enabling the development of integrated and quality solutions.
The jury evaluating the different proposals leading to the selection of the winning project was composed of independent specialist in the architectural sector, and representatives of the Canton of Geneva and of the town of Lancy. Several specialists and consultant in specific areas such as sustainable development, construction and the economy, have advised the jury in making their final decision.
This redevelopment constitutes Geneva’s largest urban planning project.

Five buildings of mixed activities and 600 housing units will be constructed in la Praille.
